» About UNITeS

In September 2006, a UNITeS project for Nigeria was initiated. The United Nations Information Center in Lagos is the monitoring agency for the execution of UNITeS in Nigeria. UNITes Nigeria is an initiative that aims to make use of information technology for development purposes. The programme seeks to equip young persons with ICT skills as tools for the tasks that lie ahead of them and to guide them to channel their energies towards creating a more efficient work force and to play an active and positive role in the country's development. The UNITeS Nigeria project is being co-ordinated by 3 organizations; Youth Action Rangers of Nigeria (YARN), The Chris Ogunbanjo Foundation & Professional Leaders Forum (PLF). UNITeS Nigeria has two main goals:
  • To develop the IT skills of Nigerian youths in order to make them self-sufficient and more useful to society
  • To inspire young Nigerians to contribute towards social change and development in Nigeria.
